The British Airline Pilots’ Association (BALPA) has welcomed today’s announcement of significant investment in Monarch by its shareholders and the renewal of its ATOL licence by the CAA.  This signals a bright future for the airline.

BALPA General Secretary, Brian Strutton, said:

“This investment shows that Monarch’s shareholders rightly see a positive future for the company.  We welcome this, and the fact that the CAA have today renewed the airline’s ATOL licence. Together, these steps show there is a bright future ahead for Monarch.

“Monarch is lucky to have a great product, dedicated staff, and a loyal customer base, together with a rich heritage.

“In recent years pilots and other staff members have taken significant cuts to pay and terms and conditions in order to keep Monarch on the path to recovery. Today’s announcement shows that was the right decision.

“We now look forward to a period of stability, continuing our positive relationship with Monarch management and to sharing in the benefits of future success and growth.”
