EU FATIGUE RULES MISS ICAO STANDARDS
19/11/2009
From the 19th of November, all EU Member States will be bound by new air safety standards requiring them to ensure pilot fatigue regulations are based on “scientific principles and knowledge”.
However new EU-wide rules have not taken into account scientific evidence and, from the 19th of November, ICAO inspectors will be able to denounce most EU Member States for non-conformity with internationally agreed safety standards.
Only the UK has a clean bill of health – but that will be given a way in 2012 unless EU regulators listen.
