El Shaddai Street Child Rescue

About: El Shaddai exists to open homes and shelters for abandoned street children and for children coming from economically poor or broken families, providing them with the basic necessities of life and so developing their personalities leading to a brighter future.

How to get there: From Dabolim airport (Vasco) take a taxi and give us a call on +91 (0) 9225901266 / 9225901269 (mobile) or +91 (0) 832 6513286 / 832 6513287(office). You will be guided to the Goa office. Please do let them know you are coming so someone can be there to meet you. It may be easier to get to the office based in Assagoa, Bardez (North Goa) and then it is possible to visit some of the children’s homes which are nearby.

What to take: toys, clothes, stationery, shoes etc., as they have boys and girls from the age of two to 18 years old to care for.

New Life Mercy Home
Location:
Delhi, India.

About: an orphanage caring for children (aged between four and 14) rescued from situations of abuse and neglect. There is currently one home with three more planned to open soon.

How to get there: they can either come and pick you up if you phone ahead or you can take a taxi to 19/26 Koshik Enclave, Burari Delhi, 110 081.

Head along outer ring road from Mukharbar Chowk toward ISBT, you will pass two bridges, then take the third bridge toward Burari. Turn left toward Burari, then after a few kilometres the road will split into two, take the left road toward Koshik Enclave. Keep going straight a kilometre or two, pass Laxmi Vihar bus stand. From Laxmi Vihar bus stand travel straight until some trees appear on your left and the road bends right, stop before the road bends right and call us and we will meet you. There will be a marble store on your right.

What to take: school books, childrens books, winter blankets, old computers/laptops/computer equipment, children's clothes, school stationery, games – indoor and outdoor.They would also love it if the pilots would like to come and tell the kids about different places around the world and maybe some interesting stories – they can translate.

Udavum Karangal

Chennai, India

About: they have 473 children under their care including spastic, special needs children, children with learning disability, physically challenged and also normal children. They also take care of psychiatric patients, the elderly and dying destitute.
