easyJet pilots vote to accept company offer on pilot fatigue issue

In a ballot that closed today, easyJet pilots have voted by 68% to 32% to accept the latest proposal put forward by the company, therefore bringing to an end the potential for industrial action.

Earlier this year, members of the British Airline Pilots’ Association (BALPA) in easyJet were asked to vote on potential industrial action over pilot fatigue concerns within the airline.

In September, a majority of members voted for industrial action. However, following this easyJet came back with an improved offer that has now been accepted.

BALPA General Secretary, Brian Strutton, said:

“This is a positive outcome for BALPA and easyJet and the fact we have managed to reach a deal that satisfies most of our members is testament to BALPA’s ethos of ‘professional engagement’.

“BALPA will now be working closely with easyJet to ensure this agreement delivers real improvements to pilots’ lifestyles.”
