A unique opportunity: Flight Crew Futures
One of the most satisfying things about my role at BALPA is helping pilots make the most of their careers. Over the years BALPA’s dedicated Membership and Career Services team has aided countless members on their personal career paths, from aspiring cadets who dream of taking to the skies, to fledgling pilots taking their first career steps and experienced pilots considering a change.
Last week I was given the opportunity to reach out and offer guidance to another 200 pilots who attended our Flight Crew Futures event. Hosted by BALPA with Seager Publishing Ltd the event is aimed at pilots who had low hours through to captains thinking of changing jobs. It gave members a unique opportunity to network, meet face-to-face with airline recruiters and to discuss opportunities in one location.
At BALPA we understand just how important it is for pilots to have opportunities such as this. That’s why we hosted the event, to share our knowledge and make use of the contacts we have with airlines around the world.
The atmosphere on the day was buzzing with a steady stream of members making their way around the exhibitors and getting the chance to talk to airlines, meet recruiters and learn about company cultures from pilots who already work there.
The message from many of the exhibitors was positive in that they are now recruiting with representatives from easyJet, Emirates, Flybe and Ryanair all there looking to meet potential future candidates. There was also a chance to learn about vacancies in the private jet world and to speak to training schools that are looking for pilots to work as instructors.
In this video you can see a snapshot of the current job market and learn more about the unique opportunity that Flight Crew Futures offers BALPA members.
Getting your first job or considering making a change in your career can be daunting, no matter what you do for a living. It’s no different for pilots, so grabbing any assistance with both hands is vital. That’s where BALPA members have a real advantage. Make sure you don’t miss out!
