BALPA, One Heathrow Boulevard, 286 Bath Road, West Drayton (Hybrid) Posted 4 months agoBALPA’s Director for Strategy and Reform is a new role for BALPA to assist the General Secretary and leadership team with reforming and modernising BALPA.
Since BALPA’s General Secretary was elected in January 2024 and BALPA’s Executive President was elected in November 2023 BALPA has been going through a period of reform and modernisation. Our Future Ways of Working strategy includes launching an independent Culture Commission; launching a review of BALPA’s governance; launching a review of BALPA’s communications; relaunching member research and an extensive investment in additional staff and new digital systems.
We are looking for a naturally collaborative leader to implement the strategy and bring the multiple different work streams together. The role will be fundamental in assisting the General Secretary and strategic leadership team in building a positive culture across the whole of BALPA so that we can be a credible and influential voice for our members.
BALPA’s Director for Strategy and Reform will be a member of BALPA’s Strategic Leadership Team (SLT).

Qualifications & Experience
- Significant experience of driving strategy with proven successes.
- Knowledge of UK employment, equality and trade union legislation.
- Experience of organisational development and reform with proven success.
- Knowledge of the trade union movement and/or aviation industry.
