Navigating Safer Skies Together: BALPA visits the AAIB
This week, BALPA’s Accident Analysis and Prevention (AAP) group had the privilege of visiting the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) in Farnborough. As the trade union and professional body representing UK pilots, our mission is clear: to champion safety, uphold the highest standards and ensure that the voices of pilots are heard across the aviation industry.
Our visit reinforced the importance of collaboration in aviation safety. We were reminded that every step of our work is focused on one goal; learning from events to prevent future incidents, ensuring our pilots’ safety and the safety of aviation altogether.
Thank you to the AAIB team who welcomed us with their professionalism and insight. For BALPA, these partnerships are invaluable. They allow us to share our frontline experience with investigators and gain insight into best practices and emerging safety trends. By working together, we strengthen the safety framework that pilots rely on every day.
Safety is a shared responsibility, and BALPA is proud to play an active role in shaping and supporting it. Thank you to the AAP group for providing their expertise and for representing our safety interests on behalf of all pilots. Each visit, each conversation and each collaboration helps ensure that UK aviation continues to operate at the highest standard.
