Privacy statement for job applicants
BALPA is the data controller for personal data you provide during the recruitment process. We only collect information we need to process and make a decision about your application.
At the application stage we will process the information you have provided to manage the recruitment process, access and confirm your suitability and eligibility for employment and in making a decision as to whether to interview or offer employment. We may share your data with internal hiring managers and third-party recruitment or assessment providers acting under contract.
We rely on our legitimate interests as a reason for processing data, and we have considered whether or not those interests are overridden by the rights and freedoms of future employees and have concluded they are not. We do not use your information for automated decision-making.
We may process health information if we intend to make reasonable adjustments to the recruitment process for those candidates that declare they have a disability and this requires us to make reasonable adjustments in so far as attendance at interview or when an employee requires such adjustments for interview. We will carry out our obligations and exercise specific rights in relation to employment. We do not share health information except where necessary for adjustments or required by law.
We will retain your personal information for a period of six months after we have communicated to you our decision about whether to appoint you to the role.
